Due to our relocation on Wednesday 13th June 2018, the Broomhouse Centre will be working across two sites for the coming year before we move back into our wonderful new building in July 2019.
During this time our projects will run from St David’s church (just opposite the Broomhouse Centre site) and the office will run from Whale Arts, 30 Westburn Grove, Edinburgh, EH14 2SA.
There may be some disruption to our phone line from 13th – 16th June, please email email@example.com to speak to the admin team, or call project managers on their mobile numbers (you can find these under ‘Our projects’ https://www.broomhousecentre.org.uk/our-projects/ )
Thank you for your patience at this time.
The Broomhouse community welcomes a new hub, to be built in the heart of south-west Edinburgh, opening Summer 2019!
The Broomhouse Centre would like to announce that we have raised funds to enable us to sign a contract for the building of the new hub with Graham Construction: a total project value of £3m, commencing 18 June 2018.
Broomhouse Centre & Enterprises have received funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund, in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, as well as The Robertson Trust, Resilient Scotland, Clothworkers Foundation, Tudor Trust, Crerar Hotels, R S MacDonald Trust and Robert Barr Charitable Trust, and other trusts.
Thank you, from the community and ourselves, to all our funders and those who have worked alongside us to help create a new hub for the community which will be truly at its heart and be there for future generations.
We will continue with all our existing services at St David’s Church (opposite the original site) for one year until the new hub opens. The café, the catering social enterprise and all our services for young and old will be operating as normal.
We have an on-going fundraising target of £500,000! This is to enable the building to be completed with:
- a garden which will be suitable for all – the very young and the old, including people with dementia;
- furnishings, such as kit for a cinema night
If members of the community want to donate and help us reach our target, they can do so by visiting our ‘Buy a Brick’ for £10 campaign: https://mydonate.bt.com/charities/thebroomhousecentre
” We want the new hub to be a truly vibrant centre.”
Bridie Ashrowan, Chief Executive
Welcoming the contract signing, Valerie Jackman, Chairperson of Broomhouse Centre & Enterprises, said:
“This is a very exciting time for The Broomhouse Centre. The staff work relentlessly to deliver a range of truly amazing services for the community, and the positive impact these services have is clear for all to see. Having a new purpose-built Hub will not only allow us to continue this great work, it will enable us to grow and flourish at the heart of the community.”
